J-MOMO’s vending restaurants and I-Eat
The vending machine scheme run by J-MOMO, an Italian retailer, has grown to 300 machines in operation across the country, mainly located in Milan, Rome, Florence and Naples
The Italian brand, controlled by the Caggiano family, offers over 150 products, including snacks, ice cream, hot and cold drinks, fruit and ready-to-eat meals, thanks to its partnership with its subsidiary I-Eat, a ready-meal manufacturer
The vending machines currently in operation across the country are connected to a central control centre that monitors their product range and operation, and they are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Around half of the vending machines are located in or near offices, schools, universities, hospitals, relaxation areas in shopping centres, cinemas and other entertainment venues. They cater to people who have little time to devote to eating a meal but do not want to compromise on food quality.
The brand’s automated restaurants are also successful because the dishes on offer are updated at least once a month and the prices are very competitive: the cost of a full meal (main course, drink and dessert) is around €10–12.
Finally, thanks to the adoption of this innovative distribution method, J-MOMO is able to test consumer preferences.
